Roundup 1: July 17, Current Events…

This is where I do my thinking...generally!
The best part of my home. I always look forward to time here, to read, pray, think and write.

(Roundup is a new Category, something new I am trying.  I am going to post on Sundays for events of the week, if the news of the week  warrants it.  I don’t watch TV news nor listen to talk radio, but continue to receive questions from those within my circle of influence about current events, so all of my thoughts will largely be from the Bible.  I normally would not trouble myself with the news of the day except for the fact that we seem to be living in Romans 1 and the signs of Matthew 24 and other scriptures seems to be growing).

For me, this is also good practice to Think Biblically as we live in a post-modern world that takes an existential approach to life.  In this new paradigm, there is no regard for absolute truth and individual feelings are valued highest. Dominated by conventional wisdom, philosophies, pragmatism and so many emerging thoughts that challenge the truth of scripture. So these are the things I have been asked this week:

  1. Was the shooting at the club in Orlando judgment from God?  No, we live in a cursed creation with fallen humanity.  What we saw was an act of Islamic terrorism, a dark ideology that has been driven by demonic influences since its inception.  Scripture also says that God is delaying His coming because He desire for all people to repent and be saved.  God is withholding final judgment until the appointed time. That being said, there were reports that one of the victims was a pastor.  If that is true, there is biblical precedence that his body was destroyed that his soul would be saved.  Lastly, there will be plenty of heterosexual people in hell, so the idea that God would single out a group of people for deviant behavior seems unlikely.  If God decides to make a statement about the homosexual lifestyle, I suspect we would see fire from heaven destroy West Hollywood, San Francisco or some place else.  When God judges sin, He does it big such as the Global flood or fire from heaven on Sodom.  God’s judgments are quite evident!  The truth is that God’s Word speaks much more to fornication and adultery than homosexuality.  When people engage in sexual immorality, scripture says that is a sin against their own body, the temple of the Holy Spirit.  When I think of people in my life who choose to live that lifestyle, I never pray for them to be straight, but to be saved, then God will work out that sin issue through the sanctifying process.
  2. Is the U.K. leaving the E.U. good? – I think this was great for the U.K. to gain back their sovereignty as a nation.  One of my first thoughts was that this may be the first of many countries to leave the EU.  This is speculation, but if the final world government is revived out of Rome, then it is conceivable that the EU will see an exodus of countries in the coming years to reduce from 28 to 10, which is the number of military powers described as the 10 horns in Revelation 13.  This can also be mapped to Daniel 2 and 7.  I still hold to the Islamic Anti-Christ theory, which could also still work with the Islamization of Europe that we are witnessing, but either way I think it was a good thing.  With British sovereignty reestablished, we should pray that America will do an about face to support Israel again, not tongue in cheek as we have seen the last 8 years, but in truth and deed.  The Obama Administration giving Iran $150Billion to make nuclear weapons was to take a stand against God and Israel.  It remains my prayer, that in the final battle, America and our military will stand with God and Israel when the Shiite hits the fan.
  3. Donald Trump selecting Mike Pence as VP candidate?  Whatever…  As I tweeted out a few weeks ago, we should be praying for Donald Trump.  Not that he wins, but that he gets saved.  We should be pray that he get saved and walk with God!
  4. What do you think of the Day of Rage? Lame.  These types of Internet threats circulate often and are designed to give people something to fret over.
  5. What do you think of the Hillary email situation?  I think we have a double standard in this country between lawmakers and constituents.  I think she should be in prison, not just for the mishandling of classified information, but for her negligence that led to the murder of Americans in Benghazi (very similar to her husbands abandonment of Army Rangers in Somalia in the early 90s), White Water, her role in the murder of Vince Foster and now perjury.  I don’t see how her actions are any different than Snowden, only worse since she was Secretary of State.  I realize I said “negligence”, I was being kind, the truth is that her email “mishandling” was probably trying to cover up her actions regarding the deliberate abandonment of Benghazi plus God only know what else she is hiding.  Someone whose two role models are Saul Alinsky and Margaret Sanger should not be allowed anywhere near the White House.
  6. Do you think America was anointed by God?  Yes, I think it is hard to study history and not come to that conclusion.  Starting with the Revolutionary War, we had no business winning the war and gaining independence.  We sent a bunch of farmers and merchants with inferior weaponry to fight the strongest army in the world at that time and we won…are you kidding me!  That was the David and Goliath of history and the Hand of Providence brought us through it.  America has gone the way of Cain and made many of the same mistakes that Israel had made.  Some examples can be found in Deuteronomy 8 and Revelation 3, the letter to Laodicea.  It is quite possible that America has served her purpose, I hope I am wrong and I fervently pray that I am wrong, but the writing is on the wall and most people either don’t know or don’t care.
  7. What do you think of Reset2016, Jesus is the reset?  I am encouraged and would have planned to be there if I had known sooner.  I hope we see more of these types of events, the Church of God coming together for the sake of the gospel and the future of our nation!  I see signs of revival, largely outside the “church” grounds in events like Reset, Passion, Jesus Culture, Worship Night in America and a few others.  I am encouraged, try and support these events, and I am committing to being more involved as the Lord leads.  In scripture, we see the Wheat and the Tares, which I believe is the difference between 7 Day Christians and Sunday christians.  We are seeing more 7 Day Christian rise up and the propagation of the gospel is from unlikely sources.  This is all God and we must continue to pray that His Spirit will move on our land to produce a spirit of repentance, humility and a hunger and thirst for His Word and His righteousness!
  8. Did you hear Target is going to provide transgender bathrooms?  I did not hear that, I hope that’s not true.  Corporations should not be taking positions on social issues, it’s bad for business because they alienate some of their customers.  I no longer support the L.A. Kings as well as other businesses for taking stands on similar issues.  If Target is doing so, I just won’t spend God’s money there any longer (1Chronicles 29:10-20).

So these are my opinions on the days events.  This was a busy week.  Not sure when another one of these will appear, but with election season coming, it may not be too long.
